IRENA developed the Renewables Readiness Assessment (RRA) as a country-led, comprehensive tool to support renewable energy deployment by identifying short-to-medium-term actions. Key Features

• Service-Resource Pairs: Prioritized pairings of energy services (electricity, off-grid systems, heating, transport) with renewable resources (bioenergy, solar, wind, etc.), assessing barriers, opportunities, and actions.
• Four-Phase Process:
  1. Initiation & Demonstration of Intent: Preparation of a Background Paper and identification of stakeholders.
  2. Country Assessment & Action Plan: Detailed analysis and drafting of a prioritized Action Plan with SMART targets.
  3. Country Validation & Finalization: Stakeholder consultation and report refinement.
  4. Follow-Up: Monitoring implementation, sharing successes, and refining the RRA methodology.

Stakeholder Engagement
The RRA involves governments, development partners, private sector, academia, and civil society, fostering consensus-building and ownership through workshops and inclusive planning.

Impact and Adaptations
