报告摘要
WHO Influenza Update Summary (N° 413, 21 February 2022)
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, influenza surveillance data must be interpreted with caution, as health-seeking behaviors, surveillance routines, and testing capacities were affected. Various COVID-19 measures likely contributed to reduced influenza transmission.
Globally, influenza activity was low and decreased during this period, following peaks at the end of 2021. Recommendations include preparing for co-circulation with SARS-CoV-2 by enhancing integrated surveillance, increasing influenza vaccination to prevent severe disease, and considering influenza in clinical differential diagnoses, especially for high-risk groups.
Regional influenza activity:
- Northern Hemisphere: Activity decreased in temperate zones, with influenza A(H3N2) predominant in most areas (e.g., North America and Europe). Cases remained low compared to pre-pandemic seasons.
- Southern Hemisphere: Influenza activity was generally low, except for some increases in temperate South America.
- Tropical Regions: Activity varied; A(H3N2) was predominant, but positivity decreased in many areas, with normal activity in some.
SARS-CoV-2 surveillance is integrated with influenza monitoring, showing fluctuations in positivity rates across WHO regions, with guidance available for improved data reporting.
Countries are advised to strengthen surveillance, vaccination, and clinical management for influenza.
