WCPA is a global volunteer network advancing protected and conserved areas for biodiversity and climate goals.
Vision: Protected and conserved areas are effective tools for conserving nature and natural solutions to global challenges.

Accelerating Progress to 30x30: WCPA worked on Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, supporting equitable governance, spatial planning, and marine connectivity.
Conservation at Scale: Focused on large-scale conservation, ecological connectivity, and restoration to address biodiversity loss.
Governance and Equity: Prioritized inclusive governance, published guidelines on recognizing Indigenous and community-led conservation, and advanced OECMs (Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures).
Impact and Engagement:
- Authored 83 publications, including 19 WCPA series, with over 250,000 downloads.
- Engaged in 256 events and supported capacity-building across 76 countries.
- Strengthened partnerships with IUCN, UNEP-WCMC, and key donors like the Bezos Earth Fund.

Supporting Target 3: Collaboration with the High Ambition Coalition and CBD on biodiversity metrics and equitable governance.
Marine Conservation: Advancing MPAs and OECMs for high seas and coastal areas; 79% of the ocean assessed for IMMAs.
Capacity Building: Enhancing ranger roles, releases 3 million+ publications, and advocating for sustainable finance for PCAs.
Influencing Global Efforts: Convened over 47 international events to bolster conservation policies, including forums on Protected Areas, Wilderness, and Ranger Congresses.
Climate Integration: Positioning PCAs as natural climate solutions, published guidelines on climate change mitigation in protected areas.

Regional membership spans 7,394 members across diverse regions.
Thematic and task forces drive specific work streams on climate, connectivity, governance, and more.
Young Professionals and Mentorship Programs foster emerging leaders.

High demand for WCPA's Good Practice Guidelines, with the "Guidelines for Applying Protected Area Management Categories" being the most downloaded (46,511 times).
New releases include guides on OECMs for Europe, urban conservation, and renewable energy integration.

Partnerships: Collaborated with UNEP-WCMC, IRF, and NGOs like Parks Canada for event support and knowledge mobilization.
