报告摘要
Effective as of 1 July 2023, Lithuania's national visa procedures are undergoing significant changes. The Migration Department will handle all applications, which must now be submitted exclusively through the Lithuanian Migration Information System (MIGRIS). The Electronic Application Module (EPM) for visa submissions is no longer available.
Key changes include the removal of certain grounds for issuing national visas, such as applications from full-time students, teachers and researchers, workers in shortage professions, individuals with work permits, and citizens of Australia, the UK, USA, New Zealand, South Korea, Canada, and Belarus. Foreign nationals falling into these categories will need to apply for temporary residence permits instead.
Legal amendments to the Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners and the introduction of a new Description of the Procedure for Issuing a National Visa take effect on this date. For inquiries, contact immigration professionals or KPMG Lithuania's expert team, including Inga Šutaitė and Vilma Šulskytė, for guidance. Foreign nationals and entities handling visa applications are advised to update their procedures accordingly.
