Burkina Faso: Marked 40 years of Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) since 1980. EPI now covers 15 antigens; introduces Hepatitis B at birth and HPV vaccines. President inaugurated a WHO-funded warehouse via Gavi and appointed 13 Regional Immunization Champions, while recognizing key contributors, including WHO focal points.
Niger: Amid COVID-19, WHO supports routine immunization through various strategies in targeted districts. Zinder region vaccinated 67,824 with DTP3 (36% in Gavi-funded districts), improving performance by 25% compared to 2020. Key strategies include technical meetings, joint teams, data analysis, and mapping nomadic/insecure populations for vaccinations.
Mexico: Launched a High-quality Follow-up Vaccination campaign starting April 19, 2021, aiming to vaccinate 8.613 million children aged 1-4 with M/R and MMR vaccines, to address susceptibility and update schedules. By June, vaccination reached 99% of municipalities.
Tajikistan: Completed first round of oral polio vaccination, covering 99% of children to interrupt transmission of vaccine-derived polio virus type 2, which was detected and responded to via WHO collaboration.

PAHO offers a self-study course on determining priority groups and micro-planning for COVID-19 vaccine introduction. Available in Spanish/English/French; targets health professionals to cover topics like tiered vaccination and planning, available online.

Peer Learning Sessions: Virtual sessions in April/May 2021 on COVID-19 roll-out in Pakistan and Nigeria, highlighting challenges like vaccine hesitancy and leveraging polio eradication infrastructure. Upcoming session involves Nigeria and Guinée.
