报告摘要
Summary of Togo Hypertension Fact Sheet
Burden of Hypertension: In 2010, hypertension affected 19.1% of Togo's adult population, with an estimated 668,300 individuals affected. Key stages include awareness (diagnosis rate of 37.7%) and control (9.9% controlled).
Control and Management: Despite high prevalence, only 51.7% were under treatment for hypertension. Challenges in control were associated with limited access to essential medicines, such as thiazide diuretics and ACE inhibitors.
National Initiatives: By 2019, Togo had policies to reduce salt consumption and made essential hypertension medicines generally available in primary health facilities.
Targets and Recommendations: National and WHO targets aim for a 25% reduction in hypertension prevalence and 30% reduction in salt consumption by 2025. WHO emphasizes addressing modifiable risk factors (e.g., high salt intake, sedentary lifestyle), improving diagnosis and treatment protocols, and tracking control rates.
Trends: Between 2000 and 2025, the prevalence of uncontrolled hypertension in adults decreased over time, indicating progress in management.
Age and Sex Differences: Hypertension burden and control varied by age and sex, with higher rates in older adults and men.
