On Friday, November 15, 2024, WHO and partners organized several events at COP29 to address health implications of climate change, with a focus on integrating health into climate policies and combating emerging infectious threats. Key activities included:
- Healthy NDCs: From 09.30-10.30, WHO, Wellcome Trust, and NDC Partnership explored ways to integrate health into countries' climate actions.
- Tackling Emerging Infectious Threats: 11.45-13.00, discussions in the Japan Pavilion involved cross-sector partnerships to address dengue fever amid climate challenges, featuring speakers like Dr Maria Neira.
- COP29 Health Pavilion: Hosted by WHO, Wellcome Trust, and the health community, this two-week program aimed to showcase solutions for maximizing health benefits from climate mitigation, with all events livestreamed.
