Residential Propane Price Analysis 2007
Based on the Propane Education and Research Act of 1996 (PERA), this report analyzes changes in residential propane prices relative to other energy sources, using data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA). Key findings include:

• Propane prices increased 89.4% from 1996 to 2006, with most growth occurring between 2003 and 2006.
• Other energy prices, such as natural gas, rose faster in recent years (52.5% annual average from 2003-2006), with total increases exceeding 194.5%.
• A 5-year rolling average price ratio showed propane prices relative to a composite of residential electricity, natural gas, and fuel oil prices increased from 0.94 in 1997 to 1.09 in 2006, remaining below the 1.101 threshold mandated under PERA.
• Propane prices are rising faster than other residential energy sources but have not triggered restrictions on PERC activities under PERA.
• Annual updates are required for continued monitoring.
