报告摘要
Saint Lucia Diabetes Report Summary
Saint Lucia has a total population of 185,000 and is classified in the upper middle income group. The country's diabetes-related mortality data shows significant gaps, particularly for ages 30-69 and 70+, with only proportional mortality percentages and trends in age-standardized prevalence provided. Diabetes prevalence is high, standing at 14.6% overall, with males at 13.7% and females at 15.5%. Key risk factors include overweight (57.4% overall) and obesity (27.0%), with females having higher rates. Physical inactivity is also prevalent at 41.5%.
While national diabetes guidelines are available and fully implemented, operational policies for diabetes, overweight and obesity reduction, and physical inactivity reduction are absent. There is no diabetes registry, but recent national risk factor surveys, including blood glucose measurements, exist. The availability of medicines and technologies in the public health sector is mixed, with some items generally available but others limited.
The overall assessment indicates a need for strengthened policy interventions and enhanced monitoring to address diabetes burden and risk factors effectively.
