报告摘要
Iran's economy showed moderate growth in 2022/23, with a 3.8% increase in GDP, driven by oil and non-oil sectors like manufacturing. However, challenges include ongoing sanctions, inflation, and job creation issues. The labor market faced significant hurdles, with employment still 0.7 million jobs short of pre-pandemic levels, and women disproportionately affected by COVID-19, losing jobs and facing higher unemployment. Fiscal policy benefited from increased oil revenues and taxes, narrowing the deficit to 2.3% of GDP, but high inflation and sanctions remain threats. The outlook is constrained by global uncertainty, with risks including further sanctions and climate challenges. The special focus highlighted that women lost two-thirds of pandemic-related jobs, reversing gains in female labor participation over the past decade.
