报告摘要
Since its launch in 2016, the Connecting Business Initiative (CBi) has supported over 100 disaster response efforts, assisting approximately 18 million people across multiple countries, with more than US$84 million in combined cash and in-kind contributions. CBi operates through regional and country-specific Member Networks, coordinating private sector actions to enhance disaster resilience, preparedness, and recovery efforts. Key activities have included business continuity training, emergency response coordination, anticipatory action planning, and climate adaptation initiatives, all aimed at making humanitarian aid more effective, efficient, and localized.
In 2021, CBi expanded its reach to Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa through regional landscape assessments, identifying seven prospective countries for expansion. CBi also emphasized gender-responsive approaches, ensuring women’s participation in disaster management through specific projects in countries like Vanuatu and Turkey. Collaborations with international organizations like UNDP, OCHA, and UNICEF further strengthened CBi's impact, with partners conducting workshops, disseminating publications, and developing digital platforms like the PUHON tool for MSME resilience.
Looking ahead, CBi's strategy prioritizes scaling up involvement, deepening anticipatory actions, promoting climate resilience, and advancing localization. These initiatives are designed to empower the private sector to lead collaborative solutions, addressing global humanitarian challenges and moving towards its vision of enhancing community resilience worldwide.
